THE QUESTIONS

The Questions

The podcast questions are a guide used during the interviews. I generally let the conversation take us in any direction.

  • Please give us a brief timeline of your career and what you are doing now?

  • Is your career what you imagined you would be doing?

  • What was your dream career when you were young?

  • What forces influenced the paths you ultimately chose to pursue?

  • What were the milestone or seminal moments in your career that gave you pause, shock or a desire for change or reflection.

  • What's the riskiest or boldest career move you've made? How did you evaluate the risk/reward?

  • How do you define success for yourself?

  • If you've stumbled along the journey, how did you overcome it?

  • How have you dealt with, or how would you recommend dealing with, instances of gender inequality in the workplace - whether blatant or subtle.

  • How have you been treated by other women over the course of your career? Have those relationships been mostly supportive, competitive, both?

  • If you stumbled along the way how did you overcome it.

  • Did you have a mentor? Who, why and how did they influence you?

  • What advice would you give a young working woman for finding the right mentor?

  • What differences have you found in working for a man vs. a woman?

  • If you could go back and give yourself 2 key insights what would they be?

  • What's one piece of advice you would give women who are currently moving into mid-senior roles in their respective fields?

  • If you could have lunch with anyone alive or dead who would it be and why.
